On commemorative events dedicated to the 17th anniversary of the beginning of Georgia’s armed aggression against South Ossetia held abroad

On August 8, commemorative events, dedicated to the 17th anniversary of the beginning of the armed aggression of Georgia against South Ossetia were also held outside the Republic.

In Moscow, at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, a prayer service was held in memory of South Ossetian civilians who became victims of the Georgian aggression, defenders of Tskhinval, the Ossetian and Russian peacekeepers, soldiers and officers of Russian army, who at the cost of their lives saved South Ossetia from physical elimination.

In Tiraspol, a memorial service was held near the Representation office of the Republic of South Ossetia, after which all the attendees of the ceremony laid carnations to the banner commemorating the tragedy of August 8, 2008.

A prayer service in memory of the people killed as a result of Georgian attack on the Republic of South Ossetia in August 2008 was held in the Sukhum Cathedral.

In Vladikavkaz, an action was organized in memory of the victims of August 8, 2008. Resident of the Republic lit hundreds of candles at the square near the Saint George Cathedral. A memorial service was served in memory of the people killed as a result of the war. A minute of silence was observed.

An action, dedicated to the tragic date, was also held in Italy.
