On 26 August, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Akhsar Dzhioev took part in a video conference between Tskhinval, Sukhum and Moscow at the Sputnik South Ossetia press centre, timed to coincide with the Day of Recognition of the Independence of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia by Russia.
The video conference was attended by Mikhail Shurgalin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Abkhazia, in Sukhum, and Kan Tania, Counsellor of the Embassy of Abkhazia in Russia, in Moscow.
The participants discussed how life in the republics has changed over 17 years of independence, how cooperation between the countries that recognised their sovereignty is developing and how further cooperation with their strategic partner, the Russian Federation, will be built.
