Comment by a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia on the statements of Georgian Prime Minister I. Kobakhidze

МИД Южной Осетии

Prime Minister of Georgia I. Kobakhidze reacted rather emotionally on the position of Moscow, outlined in the comment of the Russian MFA to Izvestia newspaper, regards the resumption of political dialogue between Russia and Georgia and the irrevocability of the decision to recognize the statehood of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, which, in Kobakhidze’s opinion is a red line for Georgia.

Actually, there is nothing new in the approaches and the policy of the Russian Federation in regards to its decisions, undertaken as a result of forcing the aggressor to peace in 2008. Moscow is consistent in its assessments and actions. This was stated at various levels multiple times.

This is not the first time when Georgian Prime Minister allows similar emotionality and does not admit the real state of affairs in the region. It is obvious that Georgia hasn’t yet gone from the denial to the acceptance of the prevailing geopolitical realities. We are convinced that understanding and recognizing of the fact of the existence of independent South Ossetia and Abkhazia meets the interests of all the parties. As for the accusations of the so-called occupation - they do not withstand any criticism.
