On January 21, 2026, a press conference of the South Ossetian Foreign Minister Akhsar Dzhioev was held in the press center of Sputnik South Ossetia. The press conference was dedicated to the relevant agenda point of new regulations of crossing the border between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation for citizens of Russia under the age of 14. According to the new regulations, from January 20, 2026, birth certificate is excluded from the list of documents applicable for crossing the state border.
During the press conference Akhsar Dzhioev spoke about the state of affairs in Venezuela and Syria in the context of further development of relations between South Ossetia and these states, as well as about the issue of expanding international contacts of the Republic against the background of today’s realities.
