On February 10, Alan Gagloev, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, visited the Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic in the Russian Federation where expressed condolences to the people of Syria on the occasion of the destructive earthquake and its consequences and laid flowers at the wall of the Embassy.
On February 10, Akhsar Dzhioev, the South Ossetian Foreign Minister, participated via videoconference in the reporting board of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, timed to the Diplomat’s Day.
On January 27, Akhsar Dzhioev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, chaired a Ministerial Board meeting, where key results of the activity conducted by the Ministry in 2022 were highlighted, work plan for 2023 was developed and range of other important issues were discussed.
On January 16, Alan Gagloev, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, met with Akhsar Dzhioev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, and Znaur Gassiev, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Russian Federation.
In 2022, in accordance with the tasks designated by the leadership of the state and in line with the legislation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continued its work to defend and promote the national interests of South Ossetia, to strengthen and develop the mutually beneficial cooperation with the states with which South Ossetia had established diplomatic relations, as well as to expand international contacts.
On December 26, 2022, under the Decree by the President of the Republic of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev, Andrey Tskhovrebov, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia was conferred a diplomatic rank Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
On December 11-24, 2022 employees of the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry attended professional development courses in the Diplomatic Academy of the MFA of Russia.
On December 18, in Rome, in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy, a protest action against the decision of the EU Council on non-recognition of Russian passports issued, among others, in territories of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, was organized by Mauro Murgia, Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia in Italy.
Akhsar Dzhioev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, extended a congratulatory letter to Marat Kulakhmetov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of South Ossetia, on the occasion of the Constitution Day of the Russian Federation.

This is one of the most important memorable dates in the history of South Ossetia, which was declared the Day of Courage and National Unity by the Decree of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia on November 23, 2010.
